There's electricity inside matter. We begin this workshop by attracting and repelling paper, tin cans, hair and streams of water. Then for the big guns we bring out our (safe) 400,000 V Van der Graff generator that can zap our instructor and make cupcakes fly! This prepares your student to use our patented atomic model showing how a positively charged nucleus is surrounded by negatively charged electrons wrapped in shells. They will see the connection between the electron configuration of the atoms and the rows in the Periodic Table. There are lots of 'ah ha' moments and deep insights that will help them in in future science education will happen here. Plus it's fun!
